Undergraduate/Graduate Scholarship

Western Illinois University has been awarded funds through the Doris and Victor Day Foundation to assist Student Teachers who meet the criteria listed below in successfully completing their WIU student teaching requirements at WIU-Quad Cities for Fall 2008 semester. These awards will assist student teachers with making the commitment to a semester of student teaching and attaining their degree objectives.

Deadline for submission: Friday, September 12, 2008, 4:30 pm; Office of Academic & Student Services, 2nd Floor

To qualify, students must:

  1. Be currently enrolled to student teach for Fall 2008.
  2. Provide and essay of not more than 1,000 words which demonstrates all three of the following criteria:
    • The factors contributing to your need for funds.
    • Your pursuit of funds to meet those needs
    • Non-financial reasons you are deserving of this award (i.e., what is specific or unique about your situation)
  3. Complete a Statement of Income and Expenses and attach it to the Application. Financial need must be directly related to student teaching costs such as tuition, child care, transportation, food, clothing and teaching materials.
  4. Provide three letters of support (one must be a college professor).
