Public health officials within the United States and around the world are investigating outbreaks of H1N1 (Swine Influenza). The outbreak is ongoing and additional cases are expected. At this time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that non-essential travel to Mexico be suspended. Western Illinois University will continue to monitor the CDC recommendations and update the campus as needed. Please become familiar with swine flu symptoms and precautions. Symptoms of H1N1 (Swine Influenza) are similar to seasonal influenza and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people have also reported diarrhea and vomiting. Students experiencing symptoms should call Beu Health Center at 309-298-1888, employees should contact their health care provider.
