JUNE 24-28, 2018 ~ GRADES 10 & UP

2018 Registration

Are you fascinated by crime scene investigations? Do you want to learn how detectives solve crimes, interview individuals, detect deception, and analyze evidence? Then come participate in this interactive hands on experience with a former FBI agent, ISP, and professional crime scene and criminal justice professionals. You will participate in several criminal investigations, including  the investigation and trial of a street robbery/homicide case. You will collect evidence, recover drugs, compare ballistic and fingerprint specimens, analyze blood spatter, draw crime scene sketches and write basic reports. You will learn about the use of informants and how undercover operations are handled. You will practice the craft of interviewing and interrogating witnesses and suspects and develop skills in detecting deception. As the case develops, you will learn about and select a jury, act as witness, testify before the court, play the roles of prosecution and defense attorneys, and decide the fate of the suspected perpetrator.

Top faculty from WIU’s School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, coordinate the instructional portion of the program. Participants experience interactive exposure to the University environment with hands-on activities.
