Description/Bio: Review the research on how the brain is shaped by experiences including the classroom and school environment. Learn about
the importance of daylighting and life views on learning. Explore the effects of color hue and light reflective value on stress levels and learning.
Learn what is appropriate and inappropriate sound levels for early childhood classrooms and how to control them. Distinguish between
stimulating and over stimulating environments. Learn how to arrange a room to encourage cooperation and reduce stress.
Judy Harris Helm, Ed.D., began her career teaching first grade and then taught four-year-olds. Judy has designed early childhood programs
and trained teachers. She assists early childhood and elementary schools in integrating research and new methods through her consulting and
training company, Best Practices, Inc. She is past State President of the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children. She has
coauthored numerous books covering a variety of topics, such as Windows on Learning: Documenting Young Children's Work, The Project
Approach in the Early Years, a Guide to Projects at Home and numerous others.
This training will provide 5.0 hours for the following:
- CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for teacher certification
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) #1 & #3
- CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of participation.
