Description: Are boys taking you to the end of your rope? Not sure how to meet the needs of boys in your classroom? Join us as we look at the active learning needs of boys (and girls!), review the research and develop strategies to meet their activity levels.

Presenter Bios:Carol is the Acting Director of the Illinois State University Child Care Center and faculty member of Family and Consumer Sciences Department. Carol is also an independent consultant, and a certified HighScope teacher and trainer. Previously to ISU, she was an early childhood resource specialist with Illinois STAR NET and an adjunct faculty member at Heartland Community College in the Early Childhood Department. She is the former state director of Illinois CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and consulted with National CASA on writing the national curriculum to train volunteers. Carol has directed child-care programs for low-income families, coordinated and taught in an at-risk prekindergarten program, and served as a parent educator providing home visits to families at-risk. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and a Master's Degree in Child and Family Studies.

This training will provide 2.5 contact hours for the following:

  • CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for teacher certification
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) #3
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area(s) E


Full attendance is required to receive a certificate.
