Description/Bio: In this workshop, participants will gain an awareness of the philosophy upon which Creative Curriculum was developed and
learn how to use the selected Creative Curriculum teacher guide as a valuable resource. The following five components of the Creative
Curriculum will be explored: How Children Develop and Learn; The Teacher?s Role; The Family?s Role; The Learning Environment; and What
Children Learn. Participants will also be involved in preliminary planning for implementation and integration of the curriculum into their daily instruction. Please bring your own book.
Please note-This workshop is a two day workshop-participants must attend both days to receive a certificate.
Connie Shugart is the Project Coordinator for STARnet Regions I & III. She has had numerous years in early childhood teaching and/or
training early childhood professionals and parents of young children. Connie has been the Executive Producer and host of Apples Video
Magazine programs, one of which was “Peek Inside: Creative Environments.”
Joan Leff is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. Her past experiences have been in the early childhood
profession, working with professionals as well as young children and their families in the Early Intervention, preschool and primary grade
settings. Joan has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences. Joan has been the Executive Producer and host of the
Apples Video Magazine programs, one of which was “Peek Inside: Creative Environments.”
This training will provide 12.0 hours for the following:
- CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for teacher certification
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) #1, #2 & #4
- CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of participation.
