Day Camp for Early Childhood Educators
It is Practice What You Teach: Visual Arts to Creativity

by June Blunk
June 10, 2014
Reg. 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Central Time)

First Lutheran Church and Preschool
114 East Main Street, Geneseo, Illinois

Description: During this Day Camp, participants will be reminded of the significant impact they have on those around them! Looking at ourselves and how we feel in order to enrich our lives, likewise enriches the nurturing, development and learning of the children in our classrooms. Self-empowerment can help us create better internal environment for ourselves. When we move from a place of self-awareness and energize our own joy, we will act accordingly. Both for children and ourselves, one way to become more aware and get in touch with our feelings and express ourselves is art's creativity. Creativity facilitates growth, helps build confidence and provides a healthy outlet for self-expression. Participants will create visual art through a collage. Through this self-empowering activity, we will talk about how the creative process can be fueled and nurtured as we participate in it. Come experience the Visual Arts Preschool Benchmarks of the Illinois Early and Development Standards first hand!

Presenter Bios: June Blunk is an artist, writer, speaker, and advocate for self-empowerment. In 1999, illness overcame her life. During her unwavering search for physical wellness, she stumbled upon the subject of emotional wellness. This discovery led her down a path of self-empowerment for which she will always be grateful. It opened the doorway to her heart. As a result, she has spent a great deal of the past fourteen years focusing on personal growth and self-help. June's mission is to share what she has learned with other people to support them on their wondrous and sometimes rocky journey. She conducts workshops, writes, and creates artwork to share her passion and wisdom with her fellow advocates for self-empowerment.
