Description: Participants will...
- learn about the process young children go through as they learn their second language;
- discuss and explore the different stages of second language acquisition and how this process differs from first language acquisition;
- learn what the most effective instructional strategies and assessment practices are to support dual language learners;
- investigate how and why dual language children home language is an essential resource; and
discuss and learn ideas to help engage families of dual language learners.

-2010) for innovation in teaching practices. Presented at NAEYC Institute- Providence, Rhode Island, June 2011.
