Description: How will the new standards affect me as an Early Childhood Professional? This workshop provides an introduction to the newly revised
Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards (3-5) and how they connect with the Common Core Standards in Kindergarten. There will be discussion
about using these new standards in lesson planning and other connections in early childhood programs.
Presenter Bios: Sherial McKinney, M.S. Ed., is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARNET Regions I and III. She has taught and worked in the
field of early childhood education for over 35 years. Sherial has taught Early Childhood Special Education in a self-contained setting and in a blended
program with students enrolled in the Pre-K at Risk program. She has also taught Kindergarten, Title I Reading and Math for grades K-8, and in a federally
funded child care program. Sherial has provided staff development and training opportunities for teachers, support staff, administrators and family members
at a variety of local, regional, and national conferences.
This training will provide 6 contact hours for the following:
- CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for teacher certification
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) #7
- CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
- Gateways to Opportunity credit in area(s) C
Full attendance is required to receive a certificate.
