Reg. 8:30am, Workshop 9:00am - 11:30am
HULT Health Education
Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Lumpkin Family Center
1000 Health Center Drive, Mattoon, Illinois
Description/Bio: As technology becomes part of early childhood classrooms, it is important that it be used to enhance and support classroom
events and learning. Of course, accomplishing a successful technology center is by design rather than by magic. Placement of the technology
center is critical to its usefulness and effectiveness. Arrangement and access to available software is essential for independent use of
technology by children. Technology tools, integration techniques, and adaptations enable children of differing abilities to participate in
activities. Workshop discussion will focus on ways to successfully incorporate and manage a technology center as well as incorporating and
integrating a variety of hardware and software tools in the early childhood classroom. Participants will receive resource information for access
to print materials and those available electronically.
Letha Clark is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. Prior to joining the Starnet Staff, she was a technology
integration specialist for twenty years at the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood. There she coordinated projects, funded through the
Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, that integrated technology into the early childhood curriculum. In addition, she
provided staff development and training opportunities for administrators, classroom teachers, support staff, and family members. Letha holds a
masters degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Western Illinois University.
