STARNET Regions I & III

Workshop Overview and Guidelines
The following guidelines apply to all STARNET workshops and are stated for your information prior to registration or you can go directly to the workshop listing page to register for a workshop.

Workshop Fees
All workshops offered through STARNET are free of charge.

Registration Process
Registrations are taken by mail, fax, or online, but not by phone. Submit one registration per person (i.e., do not list multiple names on one form). Click here for a printable registration. The registration form may be ...

Mailed to:    STARNET Regions I & III
                   Western Illinois University
                   Horrabin Hall 32
                   Macomb, IL 61455

OR faxed to:  (309) 298-2305

Please do not assume automatic acceptance. Because STARNET is an Early Childhood grant project, if a waiting list develops, priority is given to family members of and professionals working with children age 3-5. Priority is also given to persons in Regions I & III (unless the workshop is a collaboration with another region). Otherwise, participants are registered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The final list will be determined and confirmation letters with maps to the location (and waiting list notices if applicable) will be sent two weeks prior to the workshop. If you do not receive either a confirmation letter or a waiting list notice, please call (800) 227-7537 ext. 247.

Workshop Starting Times & Lunch
Registered participants should check in between 8:30 and 8:55 a.m. the day of their session. Workshops begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m., except where noted. There will generally be a one hour break for lunch. Lunch will be on your own, unless noted in your workshop confirmation letter.

Cancellation
Call STARNET at (800) 227-7537 ext. 247 to cancel if you cannot attend. You may cancel your participation at any time, but try to provide at least 24 hours notice so that we may notify those on the waiting list of the opportunity to attend. Because of the popularity of these sessions, registrants who neglect to cancel will be given a lower priority for registration at future workshops.

Continuing Education Opportunities
STARNET is a Professional Development Provider of Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) for teachers and others requiring CPDUs.

STARNET is also authorized by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation as a Continuing Education Sponsor to provide CEs for Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists/Audiologists, Registered Social Workers, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. (5 contact hours = 5 CEs)

As of January 2006, STARNET also specifies workshops applicable for Child Development Associate Credential Credit within the appropriate areas.

Lastly, selected STARNET workshops may provide knowledge and skills applicable to infants and toddlers and therefore would be eligible for Early Intervention Credentialing Credit. Early Intervention providers need to follow up with Illinois Early Intervention Training Program to determine whether a particular STARNET workshop is elibible for EI credit.

A list of which types of credit are available for a specific workshop will be listed in the description information. Workshop participants will be given a certificate of attendance with the number of contact hours listed. Attendance for the entire session is necessary in order to receive a certificate. Contact hours will not be adjusted to meet individual needs. Please plan to arrive promptly for the start of the session and remain for the entire workshop.

Illinois Teaching & Learning Standards
All of the trainings offered by STARNET are applicable to the Illinois Professional Teaching Standard on Instructional Delivery, “The teacher understands how individuals grow, develop, and learn and provides learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students.” You can find the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards at www.isbe.state.il.us/profprep/PDFs/ipts.pdf#search=%22isbe.net% 2Fprofprep%22.

Unless otherwise indicated, STARNET trainings are applicable to all of the Illinois Early Learning Standards. You can find the Illinois Early Learning Standards at www.illinoisearlylearning.org/standards.

Accessibility
All workshops will be held at sites that are accessible. Please make your request no later than two weeks before the scheduled event for special accommodations such as sign language, translated or large print materials, etc. and STARNET will be happy to accommodate those needs.
