Home care Instructions for Students with Flu Like Symptoms
Seasonal flu can cause a wide range of symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people may also have vomiting and diarrhea. People may be infected with the flu and have respiratory symptoms without a fever.
Individuals with flu-like symptoms are encouraged to take care of themselves at home. The Health Center needs to be able to take see those students who are seriously ill. However individuals should seek immediate medical attention if they have any of the following symptoms.
- Chest pain/difficulty breathing
- Purple or blue discoloration of the lips
- Vomiting and are unable to keep liquids down
- Signs of dehydration such as dizziness when standing, absence of urination
- Seizures
- Reduced responsiveness or confusion

Beu will continue to take calls and provide instructions on self care, however appointments may be limited to seriously ill students during times of high demand.

The Health Center offers students an array of services, including:
- Immunizations/Vaccines and TB Skin Tests
- Sports Physicals
- A full service pharmacy, offering student medications and over the counter products at the lowest possible cost
- Allergy Treatment and Inoculation
- Diagnosis and treatment of STDs
- Assessment, treatment and referral to specialists for serious illness and injuries
- X-Ray diagnostic services
- Extensive lab testing facilities
- Psychiatric services
- Health and Wellness Programming and outreach to enable students to have individual and group intervention on topics such as: tobacco cessation, sexual health, nutrition, eating disorders as well as specific health issues common to the general student-aged population.
Beu Health Center has been surveyed and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We are proud to be among the nationally accredited college health services.
