Who Can Use Beu Health Center Services?
Beu Health Center is available to all students, full or part-time, who are registered and have paid tuition and fees. Spouses of WIU students are also eligible to use these services for a fee, payable at the time of service.
How to Make Appointments
- Appointments cannot be made or changed on the web. Call (309) 298-1888 to schedule an appointment. Phone lines are open from 7:30am-4:30pm for the purpose of making or changing appointments.
- Please allow a few days for scheduling well-person check-ups and immunizations due to the high number of ill students presenting for services. Urgent appointments will be seen same-day, depending on the nature of your symptoms and the availability of providers. Please discuss your symptoms with the appointment professional when calling for your appointment.
- We will see as many unwell students as we can, but reserve the right to prioritize students who require medical immediate care and/or referral. Please be patient and feel free to contact the appointment line again should your symptoms change and become more problematic. Students can visit other local care providers in the community, but should contact WIU's Student Insurance Office beforehand (309) 298-1882, to determine the cost of going to outside providers without referral.
- Students with appointments for pap smears need to be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
Cancellations
Mary Margaret Harris
Director
Richard Iverson, M.D.
Chief of Staff
Cancellations of appointments must be made at least 1 hour in advance (24 hours in advance for Pap,Psychiatrist and AOD appointments) in order to avoid a fee surcharge for a no-show appointment. If cancellations are not made, fees will be charged to the no-show student's account.
No-show surcharges apply for all appointment types.
Please cancel your appointments in advance, so that other students who may be ill have the chance to come in for that appointment. We do not double-book students, and no-show appointments mean lost time for other students needing services.
Location
Beu Health Center is located on the corner of Murray Street and Western Avenue. It is located across the street from Browne Hall and next to Knoblauch Hall. View a campus map for details.
Parking
Students coming to Beu may park in the Beu Parking lot adjacent to the building. If the lot is full, students must park in student-approved areas for their particular parking pass or they will be ticketed by University Parking Services personnel. Students who are able to find a parking place in the Beu lot must write their license plate numbers down on their check-in sheet to prevent ticketing by Parking Services.
