Group Fitness

We are currently offering Outdoor Group Fitness Classes, as well as Facebook Live Virtual Classes! Keep checking our WIU Campus Recreation Facebook page for the most up-to-date information about our group fitness offerings!

Outdoor Group Fitness Policies & Procedures

  1. Classes are open to WIU students and Campus Recreation members only.
  2. Classes will be limited to 9 participants so that group sizes will stay at 10 or less (including the instructor).
  3. Social distancing guidelines will be in effect. Participants will be asked to try and maintain a 6-foot distance from others before, during, and after classes.
  4. All participants must email Brian Thomas at BM-Thomas2@wiu.edu to sign up for classes. You may sign up for classes the same week or the following week, but no further ahead of time than that. Participants may sign up for as many classes as they wish!
  5. No walk-in participants will be allowed. Participants must sign up for classes beforehand. A roster will be printed before each day's classes, and will be used to log participants for that day.
  6. Participants and instructors will have their temperatures taken before classes. Temperatures will be recorded on the daily participant logs.
  7. No face masks will be required as long as social distancing is maintained! Participants and instructors may wear a face covering if they choose to.
  8. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be made available at every class.
  9. Please bring your own water bottle and towel. These items will not be provided.
  10. For Water Jug and Backpack classes, please bring your own. These items will not be provided.
  11. Outdoor classes will be canceled in the event of rainfall or a heat index above 103 degrees F.
  12. IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IN-PERSON GROUP FITNESS CLASSES IF YOU FEEL ILL OR ARE SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS!
