Career Assessments

Career assessments are a common method of exploring career options, interests, values, and personality traits as they relate to careers. The WIU Career Development Center provides two career assessments for students: The Strong Interest Inventory® and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®.

The Strong Interest Inventory® helps students identify and clarify professional and personal interests, along with providing a report that includes information on careers that relate to your interests. The assessment lasts about 35-50 minutes. It is provided online at your own pace and the cost of the assessment is $9.95.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® allows students to explore their personality, preferred work environments, and areas of career interest. The MBTI® is provided online and takes 15-25 minutes to complete. The cost of the assessment is $22.95.

To take one of these assessments, students must meet individually with Michelle Howe (Certified Practitioner in the Strong Interest Inventory® & Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®) before taking the assessment (Pre-Assessment Meeting). To receive your Strong® or MBTI® report, an interpretive session with Michelle is required after taking the assessment (Post-Assessment Meeting). Please contact us at (309) 298-1838 to schedule your Pre-Assessment meeting!
