Connect with DRC as a Prospective WIU Student

Although DRC works with the campus community to create accessible and inclusive environments, there may be elements of instruction or course design that result in barriers to your participation or accurate assessment of achievement. If this is the case, you may wish to connect with DRC. Registering with DRC as a prospective student is a 3-step process:

  1. Complete a Request for Services Form (RSF).
  2. Submit documents that provide a diagnosis and support requested accommodations. To assist professional evaluators (e.g., physicians, psychologists, etc.) in providing the information necessary to support accommodations, DRC created fill-in-the-blank forms called Accommodation Support Forms for various disability categories. Please share this form with the physician, school psychologist, etc. who will be preparing your disability documentation. Although we must have disability documentation on file, the use of our form is not required, and you may submit documentation in other formats (e.g., doctor’s letters, psycho-educational reports, etc.). All forms and documentation should be sent to Disability Resource Center, 1 University Circle, Macomb, IL 61455 or faxed to (309) 298-2361.
  3. After you are admitted to the University, please call 309-298-2512 or email disability@wiu.edu to schedule a Welcome appointment. During this appointment, a DRC staff member will describe the accommodation process and discuss any additional documentation that may be needed to support your requests. For the Welcome you can choose between a face-to-face appointment or a phone appointment.
