Transportation

Public Transportation

Western Illinois University, situated in McDonough County, is served by a comprehensive public transportation system through McDonough County Public Transportation (MCPT). This system includes the GoWest bus service and ADA Paratransit Service for individuals who are unable to use the GoWest busses due to a disability. All GoWest busses are equipped with a lift and are wheelchair accessible. For more information on bus routes, please visit GoWest.

ADA Paratransit Service

If you are unable to use the GoWest busses, either permanently or on a conditional basis, such as during inclement weather, you may apply for ADA Paratransit Service. The ADA Paratransit Service Application requires Adobe Reader. If you would like this application in a different format, please contact the Disability Resource Center at 309-298-2512 or disability@wiu.edu.

Part A should be completed by applicants and Part B should be completed by one of the approved professionals listed on page 10 of the application. Completed applications can be sent to the Disability Resource Center, Western Illinois University, 1 University Circle, Macomb, IL 61455 or faxed to 309-298-2361. Applications will be reviewed by the DRC Director within approximately 1 week of receipt. If clarification is needed to make a determination, you will be contacted by the DRC. The DRC will notify you of your eligibility for ADA Paratransit Service in writing via U.S. mail. (I will change this to include email if you are agreeable to updating the application.)
