WIU Establishes Western Advantage Scholarship for New Students

Incoming freshmen at Western Illinois University from Adams, Brown, Cass, Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Schuyler or Warren counties now have yet another scholarship opportunity to assist with college costs.

Western's newest scholarship, the Western Advantage, is available for new freshmen students entering the University in Fall 2011. Students with a 2.5-2.9 GPA are eligible for $1,000 per year, while students with a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible for $2,000 per year.

Scholarship criteria/requirements include: a graduate of a high school in Adams, Brown, Cass, Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Schuyler or Warren counties; have a 2.5 grade point average or higher; have financial need; and have completed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. Students who are eligible will be notified via their financial aid award letter from Western. Funds are limited and awards will be made until funds are exhausted. The scholarship is automatically renewed annually as long as recipients maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher at Western.
