3. How and when do I apply for financial aid?
You must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year that you wish to be considered for financial aid, which includes federal student loans. The application process is an annual activity beginning anytime after January 1 for the following academic year (fall, spring and summer). - for example, if you plan on attending during the Fall 2012 - Spring 2013 school year, you will want to complete a 2012-13 FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2012.

apply online because application information will be processed faster, while built-in software helps you avoid errors that could lead to delays.
