Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG)
The Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG) is a state entitlement program for qualified U.S. Armed Forces veterans (visit CollegeIllinois! to view a complete list of eligibility requirements).
IVG benefits pay eligible tuition, fees, and any nine-month prorated health insurance charges - benefits do not cover the Distance Learning Charge assessed for online coursework. IVG benefits are limited to use at Illinois public colleges or community colleges. Qualified applicants may use this grant at the undergraduate or graduate level for the equivalent of four academic years of full-time enrollment.
PLEASE NOTE: Requests to change, update, or cancel awards must be made prior to the term billing deadline (the last day of the semester for a which an award is received).
Submit an Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG) Application and required documentation to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), as listed on the application form.
Applicants will be sent a Notice of Eligibility Letter - once a copy of the Notice of Eligibility Letter is submitted to WIU’s Financial Aid Office, the IVG will credit the student’s University account. NOTE: IVG Notice of Eligibility Letter must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by the last day of the semester.
As long as you are continuously enrolled each academic year, the IVG will credit your bill automatically. If not continuously enrolled, notify WIU’s Financial Aid Office to re-activate the award.
