Mel Blasi, Head Golf Professional at WIU Golf course, has over 14 years of teaching and coaching experience in the game of golf. His teaching incorporates the biomechanics of the golf swing as well as psychological aspects of how to positively manage your game. "My goal is for every golfer to reach a level of enjoyment and competitiveness which they desire."

Individual Lessons

The individual instruction is tailored to fit your needs: Short game full-swing or swing problem solving. If you learn better with someone else, bring a friend or two.

WIU Driving Range Pass

The WIU Driving Range offers the best in practice facilities in western Illinois. The huge bent grass range tee, practice holes, putting green, and sand bunker give the serious golfer the ideal environment to improve his/her game. Unlimited access to these facilities allows the beginner a great place to start.

Cost: Junior: $100, Regular: $190

Group Instruction

Evenings - TBA, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

This program features 6 hours of free instructions over 4 evenings. We will cover the basic fundamentals of grip, posture, alignment, and swing techniques. Range balls and clubs are also provided. Bring a friend and have some fun.
