Housing Facility Improvements and Projects
The following are current projects to address our facilities needs while taking into consideration student needs and the residence life program. Looking forward, it is not likely feasible to renovate all of our facilities to “like-new” condition so we must concentrate our efforts in specific areas to reduce the deferred maintenance liability and to increase student satisfaction.
This renovation will involve a complete remodel of the information desk and cosmetic finishes such as ceilings, flooring, lighting and wall finishes in the main lobby.
Open in 1967, Higgins Hall was used for nearly four decades as a home for over 25,000 Western students. This project includes a full demolition of the Higgins Hall building. After removal the site will return to green space.
The Lincoln/Washington Hall renovation project was completed over a period of 2 years, with overall completion in August 2012. Washington Hall student rooms and lounge were renovated during the 2010-2011 academic year and Lincoln Hall student rooms and lounge were renovated during the 2011-2012 academic year. Bathroom renovations were scheduled for the Summer periods.
