2013 Graduate & Family Housing Renewal Process 

Starting  February 18, 2013 until March 1, 2013 , all East Village and University Village residents will be able to renew their current apartment through  STARS .  Online renewal will only be offered to residents wishing to continue residency in their current apartment for Summer 2013 and beyond. When logged into  STARS , there will be three renewal options.  These options are listed below with a brief explanation:

 

  • SUMMER 2013: This renews the apartment for ONLY SUMMER 2013.
  • SUMMER/FALL 2013: This renews the apartment for SUMMER 2013 and FALL 2013.
  • SUMMER 2013/FALL 2013/SPRING 2014: This renews the apartment for SUMMER 2013, FALL 2013, and SPRING 2014.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SUMMER FACILITY UPDATES

During the 2013 Summer period, the East Village Complex will undergo mechanical and piping upgrades in each apartment.  Air conditioning and heating will be affected during this period as new systems are installed. 

Please note that in order to efficiently complete this project, work will begin on  Monday,  May 13th  at 10:00am.  Work will be scheduled each day  Monday -  Friday,  7:00am-5:00pm. Residents will have access to their apartment at anytime, however, please know that several trades will be in/out of your apartment throughout the day. UHDS understands the inconveniences that this project presents and will provide alternative sleeping arrangements during the time your apartment is being worked on.  The estimated time for completion on each wing is 3-4 weeks. 

UHDS will release more information in the coming weeks regarding the details of this project.

If you are not renewing online, ask yourself these questions:

 I am leaving for Summer Break, but I want to come back in the Fall?

If you are not planning on staying through the Summer, but will be returning for the Fall 2013 semester, you need to turn in an “Intent to Vacate” form by  Monday, April 15 , 2013 , and place yourself on the waiting list in-person at Seal Hall.  After May 1, 2013, UHDS will begin to offer leases to students for Fall 2013. The only way to guarantee space for Fall 2013 is to renew for Summer 2013 AND Fall 2013.

 I am not renewing at all and plan to leave at the end of my lease term?

As a reminder, your current lease states: all residents leaving GFH must complete an Intent to Vacate form 30 days prior to their move out date. If you are not renewing, you must complete an “Intent to Vacate” form by  Monday, April 15, 2013 .

I can’t or plan not to renew online, but I want to stay in the same apartment?

Residents who do not plan to renew online must contact the Graduate and Family Housing Office in Seal Hall 309-298-3331.

 

 

 

RENEW YOUR SAME APARTMENT ON STARS!

Residents wishing to stay in their current apartment for Summer 2013 and beyond, will not be allowed to renew for their apartment after the March 1, 2013  deadline. Individuals who do not renew will need to reapply for housing and may be placed on the GFH waiting list.  University Housing and Dining Services will attempt to reassign residents back into their current apartment if they do not renew for Summer 2013 and beyond, however, no guarantees can be made.
