Director - Multicultural Center

r-ayardochoa@wiu.edu

In my role as the Director of the Multicultural Center and as a student affairs practitioner I am passionate about social justice, intersectionality and developing students through education, engagement and leadership. I ensure GBCC provides a unique and empowering space for students to experience college life. It is also important that GBCC is a space on campus that offers a holistic learning experience allowing students to explore ethnic identity development, engage in social justice, community outreach, cultural expression, social and professional networking so they can become the best version of themselves. I hold a B. A. in Sociology from Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa and a M.A in Latin American Studies from the University of Granada in Granada, Spain. My favorite place to travel is Rome, Italy. My favorite movies is "Finding Nemo" & "Hidden Figures". One of my goal for this year is to continue to be a servant leader.

Hello everyone! My name is Grace, and I am in the College Student Personnel Program here. Some fun facts about me:  I worked at Harvard this summer as a Resident Director for their Pre-College Program. I'm from Wisconsin and went to school at UW-Stout where I graduated with a BFA in Interior Design. I spent a summer in Scotland and designed one of my tattoos around that experience. I have a dog named Fergus who is the light of my life and I can talk about for hours.  My favorite shows right now are Steven Universe and Lucifer.  My passion is working with Queer students and doing everything I can to enhance their experiences here at WIU.  I can't wait to meet you all!

LGBT*QA Ambassador

I am a Social Work major here at WIU. I am originally from Streamwood, IL. The MCC, to me, means a place where all are invited and welcomed to be themselves without fear of being an outcast. It is a place full of smiles and kind people. I would tell incoming student to be sure to join at least one club! It is the best way to make friends and find people who have similar interests as you.

I live by the quote,
