Find below a listing of events taking place during the 2015 Dads' Weekend. This listing will be updated regularly, so check back often! We try to make the information as accurate as possible.

  • *Dads' Weekend Check-In: University Union, Grand Ballroom Lobby
    Friday, 11:00 am-6:00 pm. Pick up registration information packet and wristband.
  • Campustown Gear and Graphics: 325 W. Adams Street
    Friday 11:00am-6:00 pm.  Registered dads and their student will receive 10% off all purchases.  Campustown specialize in WIU and custom apparel.
  • *Miniature Golf:  BallFore Family Fun Center,  9575 Hwy 136Friday Noon-10:00 pm.  Students stop out with your father and play our miniature golf course.  Dads' golf free with a WIU student who presents their WIU ID card.
  • *AquaClimb:  Student Recreation Center, Aquatics Center
    Friday, 3:00-7:00pm. All swimmers can test their climbing abilities on our 16' high Aquaclimb wall.  Try to ring the bell at the top of the wall and enjoy the plunge into the deep end when you jump off.
  • *Opening Dinner Reception Check In: University Union, Grand Ballroom Lobby
    Friday, 6:20-6:30 pm.  Pick up registration information and wristband as well as check in for dinner. Seating to begin at 6:30 pm.
  • Dads' Weekend Opening Dinner Reception and The Improvised Shakespeare Company Show : University Union, Grand Ballroom,  Prepaid Event
    Friday, 6:30 pm.  Join us for the Dads' Weekend Opening Reception. Casual dress, seating begins at 6:30 pm with a cash bar. Dinner is a served meal featuring .....Beginning at 8pm The Improvised Shakespeare Co. will use one audience suggestion to
    create a fully improvised play in Elizabethan style. Each play is completely improvised, so each play is entirely new
  • BCA Show ONLY - The Improvised Shakespeare Company Show:
    University Union, Grand Ballroom.
    Friday, 8:00 pm. Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written) The Improvised Shakespeare Co. creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your very eyes!  All the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if ever you're wondering where the story is going...so are they!
  • Rialto Theater Special: 1401 East Jackson Street
    Friday. All evening shows are $1 off for Dads presenting the Dad's Weekend wristband. For all shows and times please visit their website or call the Rialto at (309) 833-2626.
  • *Dixie Swim Club:  Macomb Community Theater
    Friday, 7:00pm.  Our third production follows the decades-long friendship of five Southern women who first bonded on their college swim team, and who get together each year for a long weekend at the beach. We share four of the reunions as the women support each other through life’s challenges. Sheree, the team captain, desperately tries to maintain her “perfect” life, while organizing the others. Dinah is a career dynamo, but her victories in the courtroom are in stark contrast to her frustrating personal life. Much-married Lexie is determined to hold onto her youth and looks as long as possible. Vernadette, acutely aware of the dark cloud that hovers over her life, has decided to just give in and embrace the chaos. And sweet, gentle Jeri Neal experiences a late entry into motherhood that takes them all by surprise. These remarkable women take us on a life journey in this humorous and touching play about friendships. Call 309/837-1828 for tickets $10 per adult.
  • Rock and Bowl: Diggers College City Bowl
    Friday, 9:30-11:30 pm.  Hey WIU students grab your Dad or other guests and join us for a night of Rock and Bowl. $7.00 per person, price includes unlimited bowling and shoes. WIU dads' with a wristband will receive a free large soda with their purchase of Rock and Bowl!

  • *Farmers Market: Downtown Courthouse Square
    Saturday 7am-1pm.  Enjoy browsing or buying the fresh produce and other items available at farmers market.
  • *Dads' Weekend Check-In: University Union, Concourse, Ground Floor
    Saturday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Pick up registration information packet and wristband.
  • *Open Bass Tournament: WIU Fishing Club
    Saturday, 8:00 am-2:00 pm. It will be held at Spring Lake northwest of Macomb. There will be a $50 entry fee per team, 2 people per team. To register for this event email fishing@wiu.edu 5 fish limit, greatest total weight at the end of tournament wins. There will be a pay back from the registration and certificates awarded to the top 3 places. Come out and enjoy a good day on the lake and catch some fish! This lake is easily accessible with a trolling motor and allows any size outboard motor. Rain or Shine we will fish and have fun!
  • *Cooking Breakfast with Dad: Knoblauch Hall, Room 230, Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 8:30-10:00 am. This classroom experience will get fathers and students working in the kitchen to create simple and delicious breakfast meal.
  • *Competitive Rocky's Two-Person 9-Hole Golf Scramble: Harry Mussatto Golf Course back 9. Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 8:30 am check in with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. $43.00 per team. Arrive at the course by 8:30am. to confirm your team. This event is for Advanced Golfers Only. Event may be canceled due to weather conditions. On the day of the event, contact the Harry Mussatto Golf Course at 298-3676 if you need to determine tournament status. Prizes for 1st place, as well as, hole prizes. 
  • *Amateur Rocky's Two Person 9 Hole Golf Scramble: Harry Mussatto Golf Course front 9. Prepaid Event

  • *Chair Massages : Spencer Student Recreation Center
    Saturday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Tammy Miller, LMT, has been providing seated massage at WIU since October 2003 and will have appointments available for Dad's weekend. Schedule your appointment soon by calling 309-298-1228 ext. 221 or 222.  Massages are $1.00 per minute and can be paid by cash, check, debit/credit card or Rocky Dollars. Walk-ins are welcome if there are openings.
  • *Rock n Records: 339 N. Clay Street
    Saturday, 10:00 am-8:00 pm.  Bring in your dad and receive 10% off your purchase at Rock n Records - your source for posters, music, apparel and more! Students must present their WIU ID to receive the discount.
  • *Cooking Brunch with Dad:  Knoblauch Hall Room 230
    Saturday 10:30 am-Noon.  This classroom experience will get dads and their students cooking a delicious brunch together.

  • *High Ropes Course Experience: Horn Field Campus, 985 China Road, Macomb
    Saturday,1:00 - 4:00pm. $15.00 per person. Payment is collected on-site on a first come, first served basis, space is limited. All equipment and training is provided. You must be 18 years or accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by RPTA and Horn Field Campus. Call (309) 833-5798
  • Chili Cook Off Contest: Knoblauch Hall, Room 230,
    Saturday, 1:00 pm-2:30 pm.  Pre-registration required due to limited cooking space. Contestants will make a minimum of one gallon of Chili to submit to the contest.  All contestants will be supplied a tasting ticket for their student and themselves.  Judging will occur at 2:30-3:00 with tasting for the general public to follow.  Contestants will bring all food items for their chili recipe and prepare the chili on-site.  All meat in the Chili must be USDA approved meat.  The kitchen will contain all basic cooking supplies along with pots and pans.
  • *AquaClimb:  Student Recreation Center, Aquatics Center
    Saturday, 1:00-5:00pm. All swimmers can test their climbing abilities on our 16' high Aquaclimb wall.  Try to ring the bell at the top of the wall and enjoy the plunge into the deep end when you jump off.
  • Open Bowling: Diggers College City Bowl
    Saturday, 2:00 pm-Midnight. Students bring your Dad by Diggers for a little fun at the bowling alley. WIU dads with a dads' weekend wristband will receive free shoe rental with the purchase of one or more games.
  • *Chili Tasting:  Knoblauch Hall 2nd floor
    Saturday, 3:00-4:00 pm. Stop by for chili tasting.  Your ticket gets you two 3oz samples of chili.  Tickets purchased through Dads' Weekend reservations will be $2.50 and at the door will be $3.00 per ticket.
  • Veterans Club Baggo Tournament: Quad outside the library
    Saturday , 4:00pm until tournament is complete. Help the WIU Veterans Club support the Peoria Honor Flight by participating in the Veteran Club Bags Tournament. It's $10.00 per team of two people. Each participant will have the opportunity to support the veterans club by purchasing a Veterans Club Dad's Weekend Koozie. Baggo tournament will have prizes for 1-3rd place. (Rain Location, student recreation center).

  • Top Girl Theater Production :  Hainline Teater
    Saturday 7:30 pm.  "Top Girls" is a classic feminist text that reveals the world of women's experience at a pivotal moment in British history: the election of Margaret Thatcher as the Commonwealth's first female prime minister. Marlene, a professional success, but suffering from an empty personal life, embarks on a search for a sisterhood, and in doing so interacts with an eclectic group of historical and modern characters. The play simultaneously celebrates the achievements of women and asks grave questions regarding the competitive, capitalistic, patriarchal and destructive conditions through which such successes are achieved. Ultimately, the play asks, "Can women really have it all?"

  • The Expendables 3: Sandburg Theater, University Union
    Saturday, 8:00 pm.  University Union Board will be hosting a Free movie for registered dads weekend participants and their students.  They will have complimentary corn-dogs, popcorn and pop.  Great way to end the night with your student!

  • 18-Holes of Golf: WIU Harry Mussatto Golf Course
    Sunday, 8:00 am-dusk. Dad and student can play 18 holes of golf for $25.00 per person with coupon. Cost includes cart rental. Visit their website to print off coupon and book a tee-time online, or schedule a tee time.
  • Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast:  400 E Carroll, First Presbyterian Church, basement. 
    Sunday, 7:00am-Noon.  Unlimited pancakes served with sausage, orange juice, coffee or tea.  Advanced ticket purchased through Dads' Weekend registration are $6.00 per person, children 3-10 years are $3.00 per person.  Additional tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event at a higher cost.
  • Racquetball: Spencer Student Recreation Center
    Sunday, Noon-11:00pm Call 309-298-2797 to reserve your court. Racquet's will be provided, racquet balls are available for purchase.

    Fish, picnic, camp, and enjoy the wilderness.
  • Spring Lake: North of Macomb, off Rt. 67
    Hike, fish, picnic, camp, or rent a rowboat or canoe.
  • Everly Park: Randolph Street, Macomb
    Beautiful park with picnic areas.
