Find below a listing of the tentative events taking place during the 2014 Dads' Weekend. This listing will be updated regularly, so check back often! We try to make the information as accurate as possible.

  • Dads' Weekend Check-In: University Union, First Floor
    Friday, noon-6:00 pm. Pick up registration information and wristband in the Student Assistance and Parent Service Center.
  • Dad and Me Massages: Spencer Student Recreation Center - Colgate Room
    Friday, 2:00-7:00 pm. Pre-arranged chair massage by certified therapist. $1.00 per minute. To make your reservation during the week from 8:00 am till 4:30 pm, call 298-1228 ext. 221 or 222. Massages can be paid through Rocky Dollars, credit or debit.
  • Opening Dinner Reception Check In: University Union, Grand Ballroom Lobby
    Friday, 6:15-6:30 pm.  Pick up registration information and wristband as well as check in for dinner.
  • Dads' Weekend Reception : University Union, Grand Ballroom,  Prepaid Event
    Friday, 6:30 pm.  Join us for the Dads' Weekend Opening Reception. Casual dress, doors open at 6:00 pm with a cash bar.  Buffet dinner will begin at 6:30.  Dinner consist of:   Following dinner, guests have two show options or a haunted tour to cap off the night. 
  • BCA Showl TBA (Unconfirmed)
    Friday, 7:30 pm. With warmth and charm, mentalist Joshua Kane leads audiences through dazzling demonstrations of the powers of the mind. An amazing interactive performance where the entire audience experiences simultaneous telepathy and witness dazzling feats of lie detection and what must be psychic phenomena. 
  • Rialto Theater Special: 1401 East Jackson Street
    Friday. All evening shows are $1 off for Dads presenting the Dad's Weekend wristband. For all shows and times please visit their website or call the Rialto at (309) 833-2626.
  • Flashlight Night at the Corn Maze: Horn Field Campus
    Friday, 8:00-10:00 pm.  RPTA invites you to enjoy some cornfusion at dusk. Flashlight night in the corn maze, bring your own flashlight and be prepared to be lost. $5.00 per person, collected on site.
  • Rock and Bowl: Diggers College City Bowl
    Friday, 9:30-11:30 pm.  Hey WIU students grab your Dad or other guests and join us for a night of Rock and Bowl. $7.00 per person, price includes unlimited bowling and shoes. WIU dads' with a wristband will receive a free large soda with their purchase of Rock and Bowl!

  • Dads' Weekend Check-In: University Union, Concourse, Ground Floor
    Saturday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Pick up registration information and wristband.
  • Open Bass Tournament: WIU Fishing Club
    Saturday, 8:00 am-2:00 pm. It will be held at Schuy-Rush State Park outside of Rushville, IL. There will be a $50 entry fee per team, 2 people per team. To register for this event email RJ-Rappley@wiu.edu or fishing@wiu.edu 5 fish limit, greatest total weight at the end of tournament wins. There will be a pay back from the registration and certificates awarded to the top 3 places. Come out and enjoy a good day on the lake and catch some fish! This lake is easily accessible with a trolling motor and allows any size outboard motor. Rain or Shine we will fish and have fun!
  • Cooking Breakfast with Dad: Knoblauch Hall, Room 230, Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 8:00-9:30 am. This classroom experience will get fathers and students working in the kitchen to create simple and delicious breakfast meal.
  • Competitive Rocky's Two-Person 9-Hole Golf Scramble: Harry Mussatto Golf Course. Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 8:30 am check in with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. $43.00 per team. Arrive at the course by 8:30am. to confirm your team. This event is for Advanced Golfers Only. Event may be canceled due to weather conditions. On the day of the event, contact the Harry Mussatto Golf Course at 298-3676 if you need to determine tournament status. Prizes for 1st place, as well as, hole prizes. 
  • Amateur Rocky's Two Person 9 Hole Golf Scramble: Harry Mussatto Golf Course. Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 8:30 am check in with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. $43.00 per team. Arrive at the course by 8:30 am to confirm your team. Event may be canceled due to weather conditions. If you need to determine tournament status on the day of the event, contact the Harry Mussatto Golf course at 298-3676.  Prizes for 1st place, as well as, hole prizes
  • Dynamic Duo Amazing Race: Front Steps of Sherman Hall
    Saturday, 10:00 am. Come have fun in this wacky amazing race contest. Dress up as your favorite dynamic duo and search the campus for clues to win our Amazing Race. Prizes for best costume. Contest will be held rain or shine. Early registration $10.00 per pair, an on-site registration $15.00 per pair.
  • Rock n Records: 324 N. Lafayette
    Saturday, 10:00 am-8:00 pm.  Bring in your dad and receive 10% off your purchase at Rock n Records - your source for posters, music, apparel and more! Students must present their WIU ID to receive the discount.

  • Chili Cookoff Contest: Knoblauch Hall, Room 230, Prepaid Event
    Saturday, 10:00 am-12:00 pm.  Judging will occur at 12:00-12:30 with tasting for the general public to follow.  Contestants will bring all food items for their chili recipe and prepare the chili on-site.  The kitchen will contain all basic cooking supplies along with pots and pans.
  • High Ropes Course Experience: Horn Field Campus, 985 China Road, Macomb
    Saturday, 11:00 am-3:00 pm. $15.00 per person. Payment is collected on-site on a first come, first served basis, space is limited. All equipment and training is provided. You must be 18 years or accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by RPTA and Horn Field Campus. Call (309) 833-5798
  • Veterans Club Baggo Tournament: Campus Recreation, Outdoor Venue
    Saturday, 11:00 am till tournament is complete.  Help the WIU Veterans Club support the WIU Fallen Soldier Fund by participating in the Veterans Club Bags tournament.  It's $10.00 per team of two people.  Each participant will have the opportunity to support the veterans club buy purchasing one of their support our troops t-shirt. Baggo tournament will provide light snacks and beverages, as well as, prizes for 1-3rd place. (rain location, Student Recreation Center).
  • WIU Tailgate Opens:  Q Lot new Campus Recreation
    Saturday, Noon till kick off.  Show your Leatherneck pride and join other families as they experience a collegiate football pre-game experience.
  • Open Bowling: Diggers College City Bowl
    Saturday, 2:00 pm-Midnight. Students bring your Dad by Diggers for a little fun at the bowling alley. WIU dads with a dads' weekend wristband will receive free shoe rental with the purchase of one or more games.
  • Corn Maze: Horn Field Campus, 985 China Road, Macomb
    Saturday, 1:00-4:00 pm. RPTA invites you to help us celebrate "cornfusion" in our one of a kind corn maze.  The Macomb corn maze is located at the WIU's Horn Field campus, on the south side of Macomb. Each year there is a newly designed maze. Come check it out, we will have you grinning from "ear to ear"!  Cost is $5.00 collected on site.
  • Women's Soccer Match: John MacKenzie Alumni Field
    Saturday, 1:00 pm.  Stop by the field and watch the WIU Leatherneck women take on IUPUI.
  • Saturday Afternoon Leatherneck Football Game: Hansen Field
    Saturday kick off at 3:00 pm.  Join us in the stands to watch the Leathernecks defeat Illinois State.   If you are registering for dads' weekend activities and also want to purchase game day tickets, they are available on the Dads' Weekend Registration page.  Tickets purchases for reserved seating are available online, however, your student has a general admission ticket which does not allow them in reserved seating. WIU students are admitted free (general admission) to all home games with their WIU ID card.

    Sunday, 8:00 am-dusk. Dad and student can play 18 holes of golf for $25.00 per person with coupon. Cost includes cart rental. Visit their website to print off coupon and book a tee-time online, or schedule a tee time.
  • Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast:  Presbyterian Church...
    Sunday, 6:00-Noon.
  • Racquetball: Spencer Student Recreation Center
    Sunday, Noon-11:00pm Call 309-298-2797 to reserve your court. Racquet's and a racquetball will be provided

    Sunday, 1:00-7:00 pm. Swim laps, relax on an inner tube, enjoy the whirlpool, or try the sauna. Aquatic equipment available.

  • Argyle State Park: 6 miles West of Macomb, Rt. 136
    Fish, picnic, camp, and enjoy the wilderness.
  • Spring Lake: North of Macomb, off Rt. 67
    Hike, fish, picnic, camp, or rent a rowboat or canoe.
  • Everly Park: Randolph Street, Macomb
    Beautiful park with picnic areas.
