$10M in scholarships are awarded each year at Western Illinois University. WIU scholarship programs represent a strong tradition of helping WIU students, and are continually growing, with new scholarships established every year.

Students who started classes at WIU before Summer 2021 can find award and renewal criteria for scholarships online here.

 Presidential Scholarship: 100% of tuition and more

Awards 100% of your tuition, fees, room and meal plan

 Western Commitment Scholarships: up to $8,000

Awards $3,000, $6,000 or $8,000 per year based on your grades

 Leatherneck Visitor Scholarships: $1,000

Awards $1,000 if you attend an event with Undergraduate Admissions

 Alumni Legacy Scholarships: $1,500

Awards $1,500 per year to children and grandchildren of WIU graduates

 Chicago Leatherneck Scholarships: $1,000

Awards $1,000 per year if you are from the Chicago metro area

 Local Leatherneck Housing Scholarships: $3,000

Awards $3,000 for housing if your hometown is near Macomb

 St. Louis Leatherneck Scholarships: $1,000

Awards $1,000 per year if you are from the St. Louis metro area

 Leatherneck Book Awards: $1,200

Awards $1,200 for textbooks and supplies to Pell grant recipients

 Transfer Commitment Scholarship: $2,500

Awards $2,500 based on your college GPA

 Alumni Legacy Scholarships: $1,500

Awards $1,500 to children and grandchildren of WIU graduates

 Local Leatherneck Housing Scholarships: $3,000

Awards $3,000 for housing if your hometown is near Macomb

  2. Complete a General Application to be automatically considered for most WIU scholarships.
  3. Receive additional recommendations on additional scholarships.

Scholarship awards are sent to new transfer applicants 4-6 weeks after the posted deadline.
