Campus Highlights

Recognized as a “Best Midwestern College” by the Princeton Review and one of only 37 public universities ranked top tier “Best Regional University” by “U.S. News & World Report,” Western serves nearly 13,000 students through its traditional, residential campus in Macomb and its metropolitan, non-residential location in Moline, Illinois. Western is dedicated to providing an accessible, affordable education. The WIU-Macomb and Quad Cities campuses are comprised of accomplished faculty, state-of-the-art technology and facilities, and a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities. The four core values at the heart of the University are academic excellence, educational opportunity, personal growth, and social responsibility. Western’s beautiful Macomb campus includes nine residence halls, a 300-acre farm, and an outstanding 18-hole golf course, as well as a disc golf course. The Fink Environmental Studies Field Laboratory and Conservancy, the Kerr Agriculture Field Laboratory, and Horn Field Campus, all in rural Macomb, and the WIU Kibbe Life Sciences Station along the Mississippi River, provide students with hands-on research opportunities. Western also offers a master of science in biology at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in zoo and aquarium studies, with classes held at Shedd and at Niabi Zoo near the Quad Cities. WIU-Quad Cities is the only public university in the Quad Cities region. Programs are offered at the WIU-QC 60th Street Campus, the new WIU-QC Riverfront Campus in Moline, the Caxton Building, Figge Art Museum, the Rock Island Arsenal, and Nahant Marsh.
