Janine Cavicchia, Director
Janine Cavicchia, Director, is originally from Springfield, MO. She earned a B.A. in sociology with a journalism emphasis from the Univ. of MO-Columbia in 1985 and an M.A. in education-college student personnel at WIU in 1988. She has completed 18 hours of women's studies coursework and needs just one course to have the equivalent of a WS minor. She worked in residence life at Western for 13 years and is beginning her 10th year in the Women's Center. Janine is a member of the Western Organization for Women executive board, the Affirmative Action and Equity Council, the Anti-Harassment Education Committee, the University Committee on Sexual Orientation, the Cultural Diversity Cadre, the Emergency Consultation Team, the Multicultural Center Steering Committee, the Personal Safety Committee, and the Student Services Awards Committee. She chairs the Relationship Violence Awareness and Prevention Committee and the Substance Abuse Grant Committee. She advises the Feminist Action Alliance, the Organization of Adult Students for Interaction and Support, and Campus Girl Scouts student organizations. She also serves on the Paint the Town Pink planning committee. Her community involvements also include the Macomb Feminist Network and the League of Women Voters of McDonough County. She is really excited about and looking forward to working with the amazing women and men who are returning to and joining the Women's Center staff and volunteer team this year.
