Auditions/interviews are not required for admission to the B.A. in Theatre program. However, if you want to be considered for a Talent Grant/Tuition Waiver in your first semester at WIU, acting/directing students must audition and production/design students must undergo an interview to qualify for that financial support. (After the first semester, students apply each semester for continued support.) Applicants in Acting or Directing perform two contrasting monologues (maximum of 4 minutes total) and applicants in Production/Design should be prepared to discuss their experience and interest in those areas (presentation of a resume and/or portfolio are recommended.)
Auditions/interviews for Talent Grant/Tuition Waivers are held three times a year on the same dates as the BFA entrance auditions. (See dates above.). To audition, fill out a Talent Grant/Tuition Waiver application and make an appointment with the Department of Theatre and Dance by phone at 309-298-1543 or e-mail at theatre@wiu.edu.
When you contact us to arrange your audition, be sure to indicate that you are auditioning or interviewing for the B.A. in Theatre or the BFA in Musical Theatre. The auditions are the same dates, but in different locations.
