Software Used in Activities

ACTTT used a variety of software programs to help children meet learning standards through technology. Using the software tools, children could explore, experiment, create, research, write reports, and work on group projects (see Children's Products.) Software used in ACTTT is listed and described below. Links are provided to help you learn more about each program. See Curriculum Activities to learn how various software were integrated into learning activities for kindergarten, first, and second grade students.

Keynote is most commonly used as presentation software. The secret of using Keynote with young children is the ease in which "photos" of text and images can be generated. As with similar presentation applications, slides containing images and text can be prepared. Unlike other applications, those slides can be exported as images and "sent" to iPhoto making it very easy for young children to find and incorporate those images into slideshows, movies, and podcasts.
