Technology Tools

ACTTT used a variety of technology tools to support its curriculum activities. The list below offers explanations of the kinds of tools used and offers tips to teachers about selecting and using the technologies.

Switch-Adapted Digital Camera

Adapted cameras make it possible for children with disabilities to be involved in picture taking activities and contribute to class-made materials in much the same way as their classmates. Cameras adapted for switch use and connected to a switch take pictures when the switch is activated. The pictures taken with a switch-adapted camera are downloaded to a computer using the same process as a traditional camera, and the quality of the photos is comparable. Switch Adapted Digital CameraImages can be incorporated into photo albums, slideshows, books, mindmaps, presentations, and podcasts. Children who cannot use a traditional digital camera can enter the experience and participate in the outcome when they have access to switch-adapted cameras.

Switch-adapted cameras are priced at $130 - $150 and have limited availability. Follow the links for camera choices.
