Graphing

Many of the topics used in ECCSPLORe-IT can easily include graphing activities. Graphs can be made in a variety of ways, including using children's pictures, software, graph paper, a dry-erase board, and even plain paper.

Children develop the following skills and concepts through graphing experiences:

Comparing
Counting
Classifying
Discovering patterns
Collecting data
Organizing information
Communicating their results

ECCSPLORe-IT classrooms have created and used many different graphs for a variety of topics. Here are a few examples.

A chart showing what type of transportation children use to go to school.	A picture chart showing what color hair each child has.
A life-size graph of how tall each child's bean plant grew.	A computer generated bar graph of how tall each child's bean plant grew using The Graph Club (Tom Synder Productions.)
