Transitional Programs

Transitional Programs provides various services and areas of support that assist students toward a successful transition into the Western Illinois University community.  These services include Orientation (Fall, Spring, Summer) which is designed to introduce new students to Western; Career Development, which offers guidenace and support to all students through various stages of career exploration; and Camp Leatherneck, an interactive program for new students based on the tenets of Leadership, Service and Community.

Career Development

The mission of Career Development in Transitional Programs is to support students and alumni by empowering individuals to create and achieve their career goals through active career planning and preparation.  Career Development offers engaging programming through individual appointments, workshops, and partnerships with employers and faculty/staff members to ensure a successful transition between college and professional careers. New Student Orientation

Summer Orientation will occurred in a virtual format for students on the Macomb campus. If you missed your virtual orientation day, please contact  for information on how to view the program. 

Camp Leatherneck

Camp Leatherneck is a FREE 2-day leadership retreat for incoming students that focuses on individual leadership development, provides opportunities for student/faculty/staff interactions, emphasizes the importance of understanding diversity, and promotes social responsibility by participating in community service.
