Strategic Planning Updates

Each month, Strategic Plan Updates provide a discussion of current progress being made in the areas addressed by Western's Higher Values in Higher Education 2008-2018 Strategic Plan. These updates are provided in PDF format.

2012 Monthly Updates

  • May 2012 Update
  • Synopsis: The end of the spring semester offers opportunity for celebration, as over 1,840 students are eligible to participate in Spring 2012 commencement ceremonies at the University. This time of the year also offers occasion to reflect on institutional accomplishments and plans as we continue to successfully advance the priorities and goals of Higher Values in Higher Education.Therefore, this month’s Strategic Plan Update provides a sampling of institutional accomplishments for academic year 2011-2012 and plans for academic year 2012-2013.
  • April 2012 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s Strategic Plan Update provides you with the background and 4/19 and 4/20 schedule for the annual presentations made by the vice presidents and areas that report to the president. These presentations highlight accomplishments and plans as the students, faculty, and staff of Western Illinois University continue to successfully advance the priorities and goals of Higher Values in Higher Education.  
  • March 2012 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s Strategic Plan Update provides you with the dates for the first series of meetings with the architectural and engineering firm that will be working with the Macomb Campus community on the update to the Campus Master Plan, background to the project, and a status report on the current review/update of Higher Values in Higher Education.
  • February 2012 Update:
    Synopsis:  This month’s Strategic Plan Update provides you with Draft #2 of Higher Values in Higher Education 2012-2022. Please send any feedback that you have on the plan to Dr. Joseph Rives (J-Rives@wiu.edu) by March 23rd. All feedback received will be presented to the Review/Update Team for final preparation of Higher Values in Higher Education 2012-2022. Following the University's collaborative planning model, we will seek endorsement of the plan by all governance groups on both campuses before seeking Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approval for implementation.
  • January 2012 Update:
    Synopsis:  This month’s Strategic Plan Update provides you with a complete first draft of Higher Values in Higher Education 2012-2022 prepared by the Review/Update Team. It also provides with you an identification of the next steps in the writing/editing process.
