Electronic Classrooms

Electronic Classroom Support Services addresses the diverse need for classroom equipment and technology support at Western. A full range of audio and video expertise is offered in working with various campus entities to enhance classrooms with new technologies to facilitate teaching and learning.

At a minimum, each electronic classroom has Ethernet connectivity, computer, mounted projector, document camera, VCR/DVD player, audio system with wall mounted speakers, and a telephone for contacting the uTech HelpDesk (309-298-2704).

In general, electronic classrooms are coordinated through their budgeting college, with that college maintaining priority of use. However, all electronic classrooms can also be scheduled for use by faculty, staff, and students through contacting the funding college.

Departments and Colleges wanting to request new or upgraded electronic classrooms should complete the interactive downloadable PDF document available below and submit it to uTech Administration in 184 Malpass Library prior to purchasing any classroom equipment to ensure compatibility with university technology and to schedule a feasibility assessment.

In an effort to simplify use, uTech is attempting to configure all equipment to work the same, regardless of building or location. A downloadable set of the basic instructions for using the equipment is provided below. In addition, each room should be supplied with specific equipment instructions.
