uTech Partnerships

While uTech is the hub of technology campuswide, we work with many other technology areas across campus to incorporate technology into Western's teaching, learning, and administrative operations helping to ensure that Western is able to demonstrate its values, achieve its goals, and honor its mission.

 

Quad Cities Technology (QC-Tech)

The WIU-QC technology team supports a wide array of technical needs spanning 8 locations in the Quad Cities area. We support standard electronic and video conferencing classrooms at the 60th Street Campus and Caxton Block buildings, as well as 2 teaching labs, 1 open lab, and 1 mobile lab. We offer electronic devices for check-out and have onsite support during normal business hours. Our energetic team strives to provide practical solutions to students, faculty, and staff needs.

Administrative Information Management Systems (AIMS)

AIMS provides Western with centralized information systems and support for Administration and Planning and Administrative Systems.

Electronic Student Services (ESS)

ESS is responsible for technology planning, web and applications development, and network operations for the Division of Student Services and provides the Division with information systems that assist in improving delivery of services to students and prospective students.

Center for the Application of Information Technologies (CAIT)

CAIT has been at the forefront of distance education for over 20 years and partners with programs throughout the United States. CAIT is uniquely qualified and experienced to develop and support online learning as well as design data acquisition systems/ The skills of the 30 CAIT employees are specifically tailored to the development of online learning environments and web-based applications.

CAIT services include:

  • Consulting - provide expertise on information technology planning, scope, and distance learning programs/initiatives.
  • Online Courses - develop online courses which are custom or housed in commercial/open source learning management systems.
  • Online Training - design e-learning solutions for training or instructional programs.
  • Online Tracking Systems - build web-based data tracking systems and reporting systems.
  • Web Development - design professional, dynamic, and interactive websites with database features, engaging graphics and layout, video, animations, simulations, virtual reality and communication tools.
