uTech Completed Initiatives

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) - Quad Cities Campus
    • With work coming to fruition on September 3, 2010, WIU-Quad Cities became a fully VoIP campus, benefiting from the added flexibility of not being constrained by dedicated phone wires, added features of voice and video conferencing, rapid emergency notification through the campus, and many more feature benefits.
  • Website Redesign & Content Management System
    • On June 3, 2010 a new website design for the Macomb campus launched in conjunction with a web-based content management system that will facilitate management of our vast web resources while providing enhanced flexibility in updating and maintaining consistency throughout our public website. With more than 20,000 webpages previously stored in individual user's folders, the move to a more organized process will take about 18 months to complete, but will enable very rapid updates in future website revisions and redesigns.
  • Western's Knowledgebase
    • On March 29, 2010 uTech launched the new web-based Western's Knowledgebase for the WIU community in response to surveys on how to improve user support at Western. The knowledgebase features a Google-style search engine and boasts an impressive bank of more than 20,000 pre-populated solutions, with custom WIU solutions being added daily.
