about Donna (Coussens) Curtis

Background: 

Born and raised in Rock Island County in Illinois
Attended UTHS (United Township High School) in East Moline
Graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and certification to teach Music                          (Kindergarten thru Grade Twelve) and Math (Grades Six thru Twelve)
Married  with two college age children and one beautiful grandson.
I live on a farm outside of Carthage, Illinois.  

Current Activities:

I tutor three full days a week for Carthage High School.  Subjects include Basic Algebra; Algebra I & II; Geometry; English Grammar, Vocabulary and Spelling; Biology; Civics; and Illinois History.  Teachers, counselor, parents or students make referrals.  I work with students during their study hall periods and am responsible for taking attendance.  I work one on one and with small groups.

Two days a week I attend classes at WIU.  I am currently enrolled in Math 439, Stats 276 & Math 390.  Some of these classes are necessary due to a change in the State of Illinios requirements for secondary math teachers.

I am on the Board of the Feingold Association of the United States.  I have been involved in many aspects of this organization.  For the past eight years I have been the Product Information Director.  I supervised a nationwide committee and managed a 10,000 record plus database from my home office. I belong to Taste & See, a local buying group, which orders natural foods and environmentally friendly products from Blooming Prairie Warehouse in Iowa City.
