Announcements

·        The Final Exam (120 pts) will be on Tuesday, December 13th, 8:00-9:50 AM; it will cover all the material covered in the second part of the course (Complex Analysis.)

18 pts will be based on a (part of or complete) proof of one of the theorems on the following pages: page 38, page 43, page 49, page 50, page 51 (Theorem 1), page 55, page 76 (Theorem associated with Equation 2.1), page 110 (Theorem 1).

102 pts will be based on the homework [for this part, you need a good understanding of the homework problems (10/18/05-12/6/05) which implicitly entails a good understanding of the material covered in class including definitions, remarks, examples, lemmas, propositions, theorems, corollaries, etc…]

·        Homework set 7 due Tuesday, 12/6/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 11/8/05, 11/10/05, 11/15/05 and 11/17/05).

·        Homework set 6 due Tuesday, 11/15/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 10/25/05, 10/27/05, 11/1/05 and 11/3/05).

·        Homework set 5 due Tuesday, 11/1/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 10/18/05 and 10/20/05).

·        The midterm will on Thursday, 10/13/05; it will cover all the material covered in the first part of the course.

20 pts will be based on a (part of or complete) proof of one of the following propositions or theorems: Theorem 1.4.5, Theorem 1.5.23, Proposition 1.5.27, Proposition 1.6.11, Theorem 1.6.12.

80 pts will be based on the homework (for this part, you need a good understanding of the homework problems which implicitly entails a good understanding of the material covered in class including definitions, remarks, examples, lemmas, propositions, theorems, corollaries, etc…) If you don’t have the solutions for any of the four homework sets, let me know. This part will consist of five problems: 3 problems from Homework Sets 1 through 4, and 2 problems from Sections 1.9 and 2.9.

20 pts will be based on identifying from a list of 5 statements those which are true and those which are false, and correcting the ones that are false.

·        Homework set 3 due Tuesday, 9/27/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 9/13/05, 9/15/05 and 9/20/05).

·        Homework set 2 due Thursday, 9/15/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 9/6/05 and 9/8/05).

·        Homework set 1 due Tuesday, 9/6/05: See Homework page (Exercises assigned on 8/25/05 and 8/30/05).
