AACTE-Microsoft Innovative Teachers Grant 










     A partnership was developed with Western Illinois University Department of Education and VIT Community School District 2. The goal of the grant is to allow VIT elementary teachers to develop a  data-base of  writing activities aligned with Illinois state writing assessment standards and place these activities on-line so students can access them for writing practice.
 
 

     This is a two year grant.  Year one of the grant works with teachers in grades 2-5.  Year two works with teachers in grades 6-8.  Microsoft has provided software free of charge to the school district during the grant period.  Software includes: Windows XP, Microsoft Office, Publisher, Visio, Mappoint, Encarta and Microsoft Class Server.
 
 

      Professors from the Department of Curriculum & Instruction holding workshop sessions for teachers are Dr. Frances Steward, and   Dr. Laurel Borgia.
