A partnership was
developed with
Western Illinois University Department of Education and VIT Community
School
District 2. The goal of the grant is to allow VIT elementary teachers
to
develop a data-base of writing activities aligned with
Illinois
state writing assessment standards and place these activities on-line
so
students can access them for writing practice.
This is a two year
grant.
Year one of the grant works with teachers in grades 2-5. Year two
works with teachers in grades 6-8. Microsoft has provided
software
free of charge to the school district during the grant period.
Software
includes: Windows XP, Microsoft Office, Publisher, Visio, Mappoint,
Encarta
and Microsoft Class Server.
Professors from
the Department
of Curriculum & Instruction holding workshop sessions for teachers
are Dr. Frances Steward, and Dr. Laurel Borgia.
