The most challenging hike we've taken at Glenwood Springs was up Lookout Mountain. The trailhead is labled "Boy Scout Trail." How hard could that be, we thought. Three hours of hard climbing later, we had our answer!
We learned later, from the Glenwood Springs Trails Guide (available from the Chamber Resort Association on Grand Avenue), that only the first part is called Boy Scout Trail. After that it becomes the Lookout Mountain Trail. While it's a hard climb, the views are spectacular!
Here's some photos from a winter hike up the
same
trail in March 2001.

the world's largest pool fed by a natural hot springs. |

| These were taken on the way up the mountain. The round trip took about four hours and took us over a mile into the air. We looked less perky on the way down. | |
