Hanging Lake

Hanging Lake is a mountaintop pond a little east of Glenwood Springs, in Glenwood Canyon. It's only accessible from I-70 west; there's a rest area about a half mile from the trailhead. The trail itself is rocky but well-maintained. Most of it is pretty steep, but since it's only a mile long, it's pretty manageable. The view of the lake at the top would be worth twice the exertion it takes to get there. It's one of the most spectacularly beautiful places I know.
