The Western Rockies

A forest fire burned across Storm King Mountain (west of Glenwood Springs) in 1994, trapping and killing several firefighters. We hiked to the burn area a year later.

The pictures at the bottom are from Colorado National Monument. It's outside Grand Junction, near the Utah border--which is why it looks so much like Utah!

The rim trail is a flat hike around the edge of the canyon, with some great views.
