Please read each of the following biographies carefully. You
needn't study them, just read them. After you have read each one, go to
the next one and DO NOT RETURN TO THE ONE'S YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY READ. On
the memory test that follows, you will be given the name, age and
occupation of people in the biographies below. Then you will be asked
to recall other information in the biographies. Above each
biography is a picture of the individual from a school yearbook.

Bradley Gabriel Whitman is 53 years old. His family came to
the US from Bulgaria in the mid-1830s. They married
into families from Hungary, Turkey, Sweden, and France. Bradley is a
bartender in a popular local bar. Bradley's wife is waitress at the
bar. Like their son, they enjoy bicycling through local neighborhoods.

Edward Rudolf Schmidt is 42 years old. His family
came to the US from Germany in the Centennial Year, 1876. They married
people
from Russian, Greece, Kenya, and England. Edward is a salesman in a
local shoe store. Edward's wife works for a cleaning service that does
after-hours cleaning for several local businesses. Like their son and daughter, they enjoy camping out in local parks.

Harold Daniel Hull is 50 years old. His family arrived in the US came
from Belgium in 1848, the time of the War with
Mexico. During the remainder of the 1800s family members married people
from Denmark, Norway, Romania, and Finland. Harold does small appliance
repair in a local shop. Harold's wife is a caretaker's assistant at a
local church daycare center. Like their daughter, they enjoy going to the movies at local theaters.

Robert Hamlin Johansen is 39 years old. His family came to the US from
Sweden in 1822 and married into families from
Italy, Romania, Nigeria, Hungary, and England. Robert does heating and
air-conditioning maintenance at a New England University. Robert's wife
answers the phone at a local radio station. Like their son, they enjoy walking through
local neighborhoods.

Jason Thomas Chambers is 36 years old. His family immigrated
to the US from Norway in 1880. They married into families from
Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, and Romanian.
Jason is a mail room worker for a computer company. Jason's
wife hand carries messages from one department to another at the
company. Like their son and daughter, they enjoy gardening on
their own property.

James Geringer Volger is 57 years old. His relatives came to the US
from Austria in 1795. During the 1800s they married people from
Poland, Germany, the Central African Republic, and Finland. James
drives highway repair equipment for a highway maintenance company.
James’ wife drives a school bus. Like their daughter, they enjoy fishing in local ponds and
lakes.
