Volleyball The train consists of ten barrels, named after ten
different tractors. Try and see if you can figure out the names
of the 'tractors'.
The barrels and materials were donated by various
individuals and businesses, and the time to build the 'tractors'
was donated by various dedicated club members. The barrels have appeared
in over twenty different parades and
even took first place showing. The 'tractors' have been such a hit,
that they are on their second set of wheels.
Teeter totters are from the steam traction era and
were used primarily for promotional reasons. Over two years ago, members
of the club thought it would be fun and challenging to experiment with
building and adding the teeter totter
to show activities. The object of the teeter totter is to see if you
can balance your tractor in the middle. Of course, this
is a challenging feat. Making the game more interesting is trying to
balance a tractor with a hand clutch instead of a
foot clutch. The hand clutch tends to make a tractor a little more
jumpy and the balancing a little more difficult. Bring
your tractor and have some fun n the big kids toy.
Prizes for the pedal pull are often donated by tractor
implement dealers from up to 90 miles away. The Henderson County Olde Tyme
Organization shares in the cost of the prizes. Don't worry, this pedal
pull is not about winning, but joining in with other children to cheer
and be cheered for. Oh! Don't forget, all children who enter the pull go
away with a 'famed' grease rag with the Olde Tyme emblem for the 1999 show.
We play two versions of this game. The first version involves handing the team on one side of the net water balloons. When the ref shouts GO! all team players toss the ball to the other side of the net. If you are lucky, you catch your balloon and will be able to toss it back on the next GO! If you are unlucky, you are drenched and step out of the game until the next round.
The next version of the game takes a little more
skill. Players are paired up on each team and are given a towel. One balloon
is put into play. The balloon is tossed to the other side where two players
with towels catch the balloon and toss it back. This version is not as
fast paced, but is very funny as each team works together to catch and
toss their water balloon.
