The Educational Administration
Dept. offers a Masters Degree of Science in Educational Leadership |

| The state requirements for certification in Iowa and Illinois are slightly different but WIU's certification officer: Linda Tomlinson issues the certificate. | |||
In IOWA you must have 5 years of service at the grade level that you want to administer. |

| Illinois issues a Type 75 which is PreK-12 grade. Internship experiences for Illinois therefore require that you have field experiences at all grade levels. See your advisor for details. | |||
|
The Master of Science in Education (M.S.ED.) degree in educational leadership requires a minimum of 38 semester hours (27 or more in educational administration from Western Illinois University) to be selected in consultation with the student's adviser if approved by the Graduate Committee. The student may earn certification in K-12 administration (Type 75) after completing the degree program. |

You must have a minimum of 38 hours to graduate with a Masters degree from our department. You can transfer up to 8 (eight) hours from another institution and/or from WIU with minimal difficulty. You must however, start your SIX YEAR clock from the semester that your FIRST course (including transfer courses) was completed. |

|
38 hours in WIU Educational Leadership courses are required for a Master's Degree. IF you transfer other graduate credit coursework into this masters degree then you will complete your degree BEFORE you complete your certification. The required hours beyond your masters will place you higher on the salary schedule. (ie. Masters PLUS 3) |
