Roboclaw Flash Game - Use the arrow keys to control the claw. Pickup the blue orbs and drop them into the goals withouth hitting any obstacles. There are level codes, so you can skip the easy levels, once you've mastered them.

Digital History - Learn american history visually and interactively.

Cultural Literacy Tests - online quizzes. Very good. Good prep too for Scholastic Bowl. About 29 quizzes with 20-25 questions each. Click at the bottom to select a quiz.

The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy by E. D. Hirsch - just that, a Dictionary of Cultural Literacy.

Great Performances from PBS - PBS has excellent multimedia information on musicians, composers, and music. There is Multimedia Library which includes an Encyclopedia of Composers and Music.

Conflict Map - In the course of the 20th century, mankind experienced some of the most devastating wars of all times. Where did these wars take place? Interactive map with sliders on the timeline. Great if you are studying Geography of History.

Space Math @ NASA - introduces students to the use of mathematics in todays scientific discoveries. Real applied problems categorized by grade level from 3rd grade through calculus (e.g., Algebra I, Geometry, Calculus). Problems are in nice PDF format, with answers. Very nicely organized by topic. You can even search for problems by "moon" or "black holes," etc. Other features include multimedia. Active site with 396 problems as of 1/20/2010.

Words of the World - Interesting videos about words. From Nazi to Chocolate, words play a vital role in our lives. And each word has its own story. But where do they come from? What do they mean? How do they change?

Brain Rules - 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School. By Dr. John J. Medina, a developmental molecular biologist, who studies human brain development. Lots of interesting information and videos to help us, well, at work, home, and school.

AP Calculus questions online. The free-response questions for multiple years are available here.

Chemistry Software - (these are explained at Make-use-of) BKChem, Chemical Calculator, Kalzium. (I have not downloaded these myself, but they look interesting.)

Art Project- This is an amazing Internet project! "A unique collaboration with some of the world's most acclaimed art museums to enable people to discover and view more than a thousand artworks online in extraordinary detail." Click Learn More and view the Visitor Guide (2:55) video and you'll find the site--and museums-- are easy to navigate. Shown at the right is a detail of Return of the Prodigal Son by Rembrandt at the The State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg, Russia. Calculus Video Sites - I googled and reviewed and rated a bunch of sites with videos.

MyPyramid Tracker - an online dietary and physical activity assessment tool. Enter your food for a day (and your activities if you want). You can also look-up-a-food. From mypyramid.gov.

Novelguide.com - Yep, like the Cliff Notes, guide to novels. Tons of ads, but there's a lot of content here too.

TED - "Ideas Worth Spreading." TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Videos of influential (& perhaps famous) people.
