BC 426

FALL 2002

ATTENDANCE POLICY

PLEASE READ THE ATTENDANCE POLICY VERY CAREFULLY. THERE WILL BE NO VARIATIONS OR EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. PLEASE DO NOT ASK.

CLASS BEGINS ON MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2002 AT 9 A.M.

This class requires your participation. And the only way you can participate is to attend labs and lectures. Therefore, each unexcused absence will lower your final course grade one letter. For example: two unexcused absences during the semester, your final grade is lowered two letter grades. Two lates equal one unexcused absence. A late is defined as coming into the class five or more minutes after the time that the class and/or lab is scheduled to begin.

If you are ill during a lecture, lab, coach's show, game, you must provide the instructor with a doctor's/Beu excuse the NEXT class meeting you attend. The doctor's/Beu excuse must indicate mandatory bed rest during the period of the absence. Failure to provide the excuse the next class meeting attended will result in the absence being recorded as unexcused. Calling the student services office or any other campus office does not automatically define the absence as excused nor does it release you from the requirements of this attendance policy.

If you anticipate an absence (excused or unexcused) and you get a replacement for yourself, the absence is excused. Please understand that this applies to labs only. This may be done one time during the semester. (Please arrange your lab replacement with a reliable and qualified classmate. If your replacement is a no show or late, you will receive the unexcused absence or late. If your replacement is not qualified to work the equipment without training, you will receive the unexcused absence.)

University excused absences (the work missed during these absences must be made up ASAP):

NCAA-sanctioned athletic participation (spectator does not qualify), university approved and sponsored field trip, death in immediate family

Unexcused absences:

Family reunions, weddings, car problems, court date (get the court appearance rescheduled during non-class/non-lab time), work, child's birthday and/or birthday party

I have read and agree to the terms of the attendance policy for BC 426 for FALL 2002. THIS ATTENDANCE POLICY GOES INTO EFFECT ON MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2002.  Failure to sign this document does not invalidate it.
