Brass Program

Western Illinois University logo

The WIU School of Music has the most active brass program of any school in the region. No matter what major or option a student may wish to pursue, he or she may study with a specialist on each brass instrument and perform in a number of ensembles, including brass quintets, brass choir, horn ensemble, trombone ensemble, and tuba/euphonium ensemble.

In addition to the opportunities for ensemble performance, we have guest artists coming to campus each year to offer masterclasses and recitals. Some of this year's guests are: Vincent Cichowicz (former member of the trumpet section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Crispian Steele-Perkins (natural trumpet specialist), Paul McKee (jazz trombonist/arranger), and Eric Carlson (second trombonist with the Philadelphia Orchestra).

We have designed these pages to let our brass students and potential students know about the resources available to them at WIU. We have included pedagogical information, upcoming events, and other information of particular interest to brass players.
