What is Western Illinois University Investment Group
Western Illinois University Investment Group (WIUIG) is a student run group organized to strategically invest our portfolio of over $35,000 in the U.S. equity markets. The members of the group analyze, research, and present stock information to the group and the group then votes on whether to purchase the stock.
Our Portfolio
As an actively managed portfolio, the group also votes on whether to sell stocks currently owned. Please visit our Portfolio page to view the stocks currently in WIUIG's portfolio.
What's in it?
Our portfolio is composed of solely equities. We are restricted in the sense that we are excluded from the purchase of fixed income, real assets, derivitives, or any other asset class.
Faculty Advisors
While that restriction may pose burdensome to some student-run investment groups, WIUIG has superior stock-picking abilities due in part to the superior faculty advisors: Dr. Hongbok Lee and Dr. Dave Deboeuf.
We are constantly seeking to keep our portfolio diversified while attaining gains superior to that of the underlaying indicies or benchmarks.
